چکیده
Abstract Background Binge eating is a relatively common disordered behavior among children, and associated with poor health outcomes. Executive function (EF)—higher order cognitive abilities related to planning impulse control—may be implicated in both binge pediatric obesity. Although EF deficits are evident individuals obesity and/or eating, findings mixed across the lifespan. Methods The present study examined differences children varying weight statuses parent‐reported eating. sample included 10,017 from Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development study, aged 9–10 years. Results Children eating—either overweight/obesity or normal weight—had significantly lower than those no status but did not differ overweight/obesity. also had statistically status. all significant between groups were negligible very small, results may indicate similar neurocognitive profiles Conclusions Alterations solely weight‐specific factors, as emerged status, versus without Future research needed understand temporal associations obesity, neurocognition using multi‐informant methods for assessing

Alcohol Binge Drinking and Executive Functioning during Adolescent Brain Development
Alcohol consumption in adolescents causes negative effects on familiar, social, academic life, as well as neurocognitive alterations. The binge drinking (BD) pattern of alcohol is characterized by the alternation of episodes of heavy drinking in a short interval of time, and periods of abstinence, a practice that can result in important brain alterations; even more than regular alcohol consumpt...

Background: Cognitive impairment is a common complication of Severe Traumatic Brain Injury (STBI). One of cognitive problems following STBI is impaired executive functions which involve high-level cognitive processes and their dysfunction can lead to reduced quality of life. Objective: This study aims to investigate the cognitive impairment in men with STBI compared to healthy men. Materials...

The independent and interacting effects of hedonic hunger and executive function on binge eating.
Poor executive function (EF; pre-frontal cognitive control processes governing goal-directed behavior) and elevated hedonic hunger (i.e., preoccupation with palatable foods in the absence of physiological hunger) are theoretical risk and maintenance factors for binge eating (BE) distinct from general obesity. Recent theoretical models posit that dysregulated behavior such as BE may result from ...
